A little traditional and a little new

In preparing for 28 days I have been going through the complete foundations of building my business. From posing to marketing and sales etc and training my very first employed photographers. Yesterday I got to spend time with those two girls from New Zealand. I am so proud to see that they have built their own businesses and how they have grown as business owners and Photographers. I get to share they’re stories with you when I am in Vegas. As I prepared the Seattle studio to shoot these video’s I purchased this beautiful backdrop. As you know I always shoot on V flats or painted Poly boards and I don’t really have any traditional backdrops in my studio. But I could NOT resist buying this one. This backdrop is handpainted from Oliphant Studios in New York.

I have been shooting on this all week and I am loving the return to the traditional looking portraiture that it brings. I am so excited for this next educational sharing and look forward to you building up your portrait business your confidence and your joy for shooting.

  1. Fashion has 20 years cycles. I don’t mind any kind of background as long as it does not disctract or if it adds (to complement, to set a mood etc.).

  2. It looks beautiful as always Sue!
I’m so looking forward to your 28 Days with Sue Bryce on Creative Live. You’ve been such an inspiration.
I’m saving up for your Posing Cards because I know these will help a ton in getting it right!

  3. :) :) :)
    Take care and good luck…
    Have a great day… :) :) :)

  4. I love it. It’s very warm and vintage feeling.

  5. Oh Sue! You have done it again! I have been following you for a year now, and I love everything about you. I kept thinking, now I just have to get some v-flats painted, as I am a traditional shooter and use backdrops. Now, however, you have totally entered into my style of portraiture! I can’t wait to see what you do next.

  6. Cool backdrop Sue. I had a look at their site – no cart or prices. :-(

Great job on CL by the way.

  7. Beautiful, beautiful portrait Sue. The detail I noticed right away in this image was their wedding rings. It’s so cool that ‘both’ are showing clearly. Hugs from California! :)

  8. Lovely Lovely Image.
The fact that you love this couple really shows here.

  9. Sue – this segment with this couple on CL was AMAZING!! I’ve bought all the Sue Bryce classes on CL. You are such an inspiration. This is an amazing drop. I usually don’t like textured drops but this is amazing.

    Wonderful workshop yet again!

  10. I love this backdrop! I’ve been collecting a lot fashion images with gorgeous backgrounds lately and hadn’t realized how many of the ones I was drawn to were made by Oliphant.

Beautiful photograph and great segment btw. It has an Annie Leibovitz feel, but it’s pure Sue Bryce.
