GLAMtheDRESS by Sue Bryce

It’s time to GLAM things up!

When she chose the dress, She poured through Wedding Mags, Bridal shops and online . . . STOP this blog immediately. I’m not a writer. This is a simple fact that you all know.  But I am a romantic, a romantic that seeks beauty.  I wanted to write about the Bride and her journey from engagement to Wedding day, the time, love and effort she puts into her dream day.

But I am not very poetic and it started to sound like a bad Mills and Boon novel. For me being a people watcher and Portrait Photographer, I enjoy watching the day unfold for this simple reason.  I have never seen an ugly bride! My theory, if you will.  For ONE DAY she is ‘allowed’ to be the most beautiful Woman in the room . . .

No one will compete with her, because they can’t. She will be radiant with  love, joy and complete safety within herself that she can shine. Casey & Ben got married on the beach at Rarotonga last month.  We had the usual constraints, time, a sunset that won’t wait for you and  an event to capture.  But Casey asked me to be her photographer for my ability to capture Glamour.

So we planned a Trash the Dress.  However, she didn’t want to trash her dress SO we did the opposite. A long time ago my friend Julian Walker said to me “What I like about you, is that you prepare girls for shoots like a Bride before a wedding” you know hair, tan,  buy new outfits etc I really liked that and that was my ah ha moment.  Shooting a Glam the dress is easy, they have the most gorgeous dress and accessories already and have prepared their bodies, skin, nails etc often they have a veil to throw around too. But mostly the girl always want more. More shots, more experience of feeling beautiful and another opportunity to enjoy that dress.  A great way to reconnect with your current bridal database and get them back in.

We wrapped Casey’s veil around her head and pinned it.  We threw her train and layers up in the air and made her pull off all the supermodel poses.  I have shot over 40 different images and that they will not be able to narrow down and the best part.  Her Mum heard we were doing this and flew over from NZ to join us on the shoot in her gorgeous Yummy Mummy of the Bride dress.  So I got to capture amazing shots of these two beautiful women that love each other, Casey got a gorgeous Glam shoot and I had the best fun,  dress up play day you can have.  Ahhhhhh I love being a Glamour Photographer.
