What would you do if someone sent you a link to an online forum about YOU and then you got on and read the positive and the negative talk about your Photography. So strange Honestly liberating to say the least the more I read the more I was amazed by the stories people construct off your website. This is so cool this is the same thing your clients do when they see your website for the first time. How wonderful to hear a very honest insight into the reaction of your work. I got a little defensive here and there cried with laughter on another but mostly was fascinated.

What really intrigued me was the discussion on BEFORE & AFTER which as you know I don’t agree with and my blog states this constantly if you take a photo of a woman straight out of bed and then apply hair and makeup then obviously she will look different, but if I don’t show before and after people think I shoot models and the ‘realness’ of the before and after are great for my clients. I am Humbled that people are discussing me and it’s good because if you can have your work publicly reviewed and not want to jump over a bridge thats ok.
At the end of the day when you get home and wash away your face and remove your fake lashes, put up your hair extensions remove your push up bra wash off your fake tan and take off the pretty lingerie and the shoes that give you another 5 inches, and moisturise your shaved legs you are a REAL woman inside and out pretty packaging or not, and call it pop culture or society we support a multi billion dollar industry called BEAUTY hmmmm. All in all a very positive experience I like that I even caused a stir. I love what I do, my clients love it and I’m proud of myself my business and my brand, I am not ashamed anymore I will say it out loud I will stand up and SHOUT . . . I AM SUE BRYCE AND I AM A ‘GLAMOUR PHOTOGRAPHER’ ha ha ha shut up and sit down.
Another shoot from this week from Before to After . . . enjoy. PS She’s beautiful before she’s beautiful after but no matter how beautiful you are nobody wakes up in Hair & Makeup & reflected light. POW

I’m glad you didn’t jump off a bridge! I’m fairly new to this industry but my motto is that if people are talking about me, that’s a good thing. I don’t care if it’s good or bad, just keep them talking! I’d rather my style be disliked than not noticed. And I have to tell you I’m a stalker now….my favorite sessions have been my Glam sessions with women that say they’re doing it for their husbands but it ends up being just for themselves, which is perfectly fine. I love the confidence boost that they get after seeing themselves photographed in a way that doesn’t highlight mom/wife/cleaner/cook…it just highlights how beautiful they are inside and it shows thru outside. I love your blog, never stop sharing~
I was going to say “At least they are talking about you” but it has already been said by Christy. Love your work – I certainly would like to emulate you one day Sue, I think your style is true to you and uncompromised from what you set out to do – Keep doing what you are doing!
You can’t please all of the people all of the time. You make your clients so happy…and you make your mentorees feel inspired and capable.
Many of those comments were made by men, who just don’t ‘get it’. Yay to Robeccer for giving a woman’s point of view.
When ‘my girls’ turn up at the studio after the makeup artist and hairdresser have finished with them, the transformation is already there. It’s amazing and you can see they feel a million bucks, they are so confident and it’s beautiful to see. My job is just to pose well and capture the beauty that is already there…and thanks to you Sue, I’m getting better at it at every shoot and loving it so much.
First of all, absolutely LOVE your work! Before/Afters are always a fun thing for me to get to see and I’m so glad you share these posts. Big fan now, keep up the amazing amazing photography and writing. =)
Honey, as I know you’re told regularly by others… and by me on facebook. You’re amazing. What you do for women is let them see how beautiful they are. We are always more critical of ourselves and being able to hold a picture and say “damn I’m hot” is POWERFUL!
You go girl! You’re giving women what women want! Most men also don’t know how to do that. They also look at your work and don’t know how to accomplish what your doing, and then they start blowing off at the mouth and get defensive. Keep up what your doing! We love it!
